Support for Childminders and Early Years Practitioners
Example policies and procedures; observation, assessment and planning formats; tailored training resources to support childminders and other early years practitioners in completing the Ofsted Self Evaluation Forms and the delivery of the new Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework.
With experienced personnel, EYFS in Practice Ltd can help you implement the new EYFS Framework. We are particularly skilled in supporting those childminders that are hard to engage - who may be at risk of 'inadequate' Ofsted grading.
Our company has been created to help such childminders make the transition to the new framework by providing a support package that takes them though and supports at each stage, from understanding the Themes of EYFS, completing the SEF for the first time, to ensuring they have all their Welfare Requirements evidence ready for their Ofsted inspection.
EYFS in Practice Evidence File
Our example policies and procedures were used by a practicing childminder during her recent EYFS Pilot inspection, where she was graded 'Outstanding'. These policies and procedures have been carefully mapped against the EYFS Statutory Framework and will provide a template for practitioners to use to write their own policies and procedures that will reflect their own practice in their setting.
Childminder Conference
Our Saturday Conference Programme includes a brief revisit to the EYFS Pack, introduction to the SEF and the Inspection Process, how to compile a Welfare Requirements Evidence File and then very practical and fun play activities to show how to evidence the observation, assessment and planning in simple, easy to use formats. Our aim for these conferences is to help childminders get past their fear, give them a start for their evidencing, and then help them to put the fun back into play. This one-day conference programme is particularly suitable for those childminders who find it difficult to attend a series of workshops, or are fearful of the new Framework and at risk of withdrawing their registration.
Workshops
Our workshops have been developed to provide a range of topics, from an introduction and overview of EYFS, through the four themes and commitments, to delivery of the six areas of learning and development.
One of these workshops includes the introduction of our EYFS in Practice Evidence File - complete with template policies and procedures and the opportunity to explore the 'scary SEF', explaining how the SEF will be used, what to put in and allaying the fears some practitioners are expressing.
Childminder Pre-Registration Course
Working with St Helens Sure Start Early Years Team, we have developed a new Pre-Registration Course for prospective childminders. This course has been developed around the EYFS and mapped against the new Level 3 Certificate in EYFS Practice and the CWDC Induction Standards. Childminders completing this course will also receive a copy of our EYFS in Practice Evidence File and be offered the opportunity to enrol on the L3 Certificate in EYFS Practice.
